Wallets are what make CF sexy.
Recording on the laptop to Audition I still have to wait for a file
conversion before going on to the next segment. Wallets are the same
wait but you can own two without a huge cost and get rid of the wait.

I will only consider CF for a camera because of their expected use in
recording.  It still is the current ideal field use memory.

Now someone or Sound Devices need to make blank chips with weather
covers for the time that 722/744 recorders are being used without a
chip.  I do not like that they left the slot open when not in use.
Maybe an old 8 meg chip would be best to protect that slot.  What do
you use Martyn?
