Well, there is no official information available on how the switchable
pattern feature of the MKH 80(0) actually works.

However, I cannot see any reason why it should'nt be possible to build
an rf microphone with switchable patterns. The essence of the switchable
pattern circuitry is that the output signals of the two electrode paths are
mixed together at various gains and phase relationships. So, it does not
matter whether there was an additional and more complex RF circuitry in the
signal path before mixing them together.

Note that there is a close relationship between Neumann and Sennheiser (the
Neumann family has sold their shares to Sennheiser).
