I found a couple of nest trees up my Utah canyon a few years ago. Both =
are in large Douglas fir with nest holes that are used each year. The=20
birds sing very faintly, you can be right there with it and think it is =
far away. They might wait through 10-15 minutes of silence before=20
responding to playback, especially as the playback most people use=20
probably sounds like an incredible Hulk owl to these quiet little=20
singers and they wait to resume singing until the big guy is gone.=20=20
Patience, quiet, and luck are important with Flams.
Once we found how to locate these birds we discovered they were fairly=20
common all along the mountain road where no one knew they existed=20
before.
