I'm reaching some decision making points in two initial homemade zeppelin
designs, and want to ask a couple of questions.
Regarding the position of the mic suspension within the zep:
1) Does it matter how the mic is placed in the shock mounting? I.e. should
it be centered/balanced?
2) What kinds of things does one consider when planning the position of the
mic element within the zeppelin? Should it be near the front dome? Does
it matter?
I'll be able to experiment with these, as I found a very cool design shock
mount at a pro audio store here. I'll try to post some pics later.
Obviously I'm getting ready to position the mount within the zeppelin, and
in this design it's not going to be adjustable. I had my first look at a
Rycote zeppeling today, and it appears to have a grooved rail and multiple
holes to allow adjustable mounting, but this may be to accommodate
different mics? Is it so that each mic can be positioned in some "ideal' way?
Thanks
Ken
