It is maybe worthwhile to also look at the after damage photos of the 
same area that you can find from that site. Suppose the people had of 
run for their homes? Which were probably within blocks of the beach. 
Killed on the beach or killed in their homes, the result is the same.

It makes a nice story, the reporter that said it will get lots of 
quotes, but the receding water does not stay out long. I suspect the 
amount of looking for fish that went on was very minor. And had little 
or no effect on the number of lives lost.
