I'm having trouble visualizing where the "long
cables" are needed, but I assume you are saying
you have to extend the C122 cables no matter
what. In terms of 3.5mm vs. TA4M/TA4F in line
connectors, I'd go with the later. You could cut
off both TA4F's from the C122 cables and wire
both C122 cables into one TA4F to make the "Y"
cable part of the set-up short. [Wire shields and
black leads to pin #1; red lead Left to pin #2
and red lead Right to pin #3. leave pin #4 open]
Buy a least one TA4M and make up a TA4M->3.5mm
stereo plug extension cable using mogami 2552
cable. [AT the 3.5mm end: Pin#1 to case/ground.
Pin #2 to tip and Pin#3 to Ring.] Avoid RCA. Use
as few connectors as possible. Not sure what
those sennheiser 3.5mm plugs would "lock" into
for in-line use. I've encountered some
switchcraft 3.5mm's that are slightly larger
diameter than standard. I bet someone can
recommend the 3.5mm plugs to buy. Rob D.
