early morning mystery

The first recording by John Hartog could be Pygmyish but I think they are both 
Saw-whet owls and probably the same bird.  I have heard the Saw-whet's 
continuous calls from New Year's eve in every month through to June on the West 
Coast and inland as far as Saskatchewan in the latter months.
