Check how tight the plug is in the jack. In minijacks there are really
two types, 1/8" and 3.5mm. These are not quite the same size and a
mismatch between the two halves can lead to lots of looseness, and
crackling. The difference in size between the two is 0.32mm, more than
enough for trouble.

Second, check all the solder joints on the connecting wires for plug and
jack. If it's soldered to the circuit board directly, check those solder
joints. A bad solder joint or break in the wire will do this too.

Also the simple one, make sure the jack is mounted securely, the locknut
tight. It should not wiggle in it's mount.
