Pretap,
I have yet to have any problems with the DDS tapes (on an old Sony
TCD-D10 Pro Mark I deck) unique to that particular grade. From my
understanding, they are usually made in the same factories as the
regular tapes, although it may depend upon the brand. Used tapes-- "one
pass"-- may have more chance of gooping up your deck with residual dust
from the coating.
Also with longer-- or perhaps any tapes in general, always fast forward
completely and rewind before you record on them to insure that they are
evenly spooled, giving you potentially less chance of transport problems
and errors in your recordings.
