Suspending the M-179 and getting a good windscreen around it looks like
it would be a little challenging.   But I was thinking of trying to
home-brew a screen anyway.

I use a Sound Devices MP2 mic pre (which, fortunately, has mid/side decode
for monitoring, unlike the MixPre) with an external D-cell battery sled,
so I have plenty of phantom (and headphone) power.
