Jim Morgan has asked for a few biographical notes from me, as a newcomer to
the group.
I'm from Salisbury England.
My interest in sounds is bird orientated, having been watching birds as an
amateur most of my life - so for over 40 years.
The interest in recording birds is new - and is directed at one bird in
particular (though obviuously my new found toys will be directed at other
items of interest) that being the Cetti's Warbler (Cettia cetti). This is
directed at producing sonagrams to identify individual birds in my area to
examine population changes, esp movements, on an individual basis.
Recording equipment aquired (secondhand) is a Sharp Minidisc recorder, a
Sony Professional Walkman (cassette) plus a Telinga parabolic mic, and
(just received) a Sennheiser ME80.
After a few days of reading the postings, I'm getting confused by the hi-te=
c
nature of some postings. So expect some dumb questions in due course.
Apologies in advance.
In the mean time can any one direct me to a quick giude on stereo
recording - I'm due to visit some sea bird colonies in June and would rathe=
r
like to have a go at recording all that noise - sorry, glorious sound!

ANDREW CARTER
