While the group is relatively quiet and Walt is away somewhere? (By the way,
where is he?) I ask the question, what has been your best ever recording?
Bernie with a Jaguar? Lang in the depths of some swamp chasing the elusive
Rail? Rich on a quest for Grouse? Doug? Marty? Walt? Jim?
Mine? My most favorite recording I ever made was the Lyrebird in Australia,
having heard them and seeing them on the TV, I had the pleasure of being
with one in Surfers paradise back in 1999, the Aviary where he was, was so
quiet he sang for me for over an hour and I had total peace (A rarity these
days) I am totally confused to where the bugger was now, I believed it was
in Currumbin but Syd told me there is not one in captivity?! The wife say's
it was too.. Anyway, a dream to record, the best mimic I have ever heard,
later on and earlier in this group, Syd Curtis broke down and deciphered his
calls, he had no less than 20 odd bird calls to his repertoire. Some feat I
must say, Second best, The Osprey at Loch Garten in Scotland, They were the
first breading pair to be back in Scotland in years and I knew the Warden
for the RSPB, he let me in with my mic and stayed in the blind for about 5
hours recording history, brilliant, Now we have many nesting pairs in
Scotland again..
Over to you lot!!!!
