I was aware of the Skylarks on Vancouver Island and have many times wanted
to pop up the road and have a look/listen; I did not know though John that
there were so many! I believe there are some on Maui too, do you know of an=
y
on the big island because I'm off there at the end of April...
What a fantastic bird, it brings the best out of the British countryside
with very fond memories :)

I have fond memories of the skylarks in Britain too Martin. You might be
interested to know that skylarks have been successfully transplanted to the
grasslands around the Victoria airport near to where I live and the
grasslands of Maui. In the winter time the Victoria flock numbers about two
hundred. There appear to be thousands in Maui but I have never heard an
actual count.

I've also noted Walt's absence!
