It's big advantage is for a beginner starting out. They can get into 
recording and have two mics instead of just one for a minimal outlay for 
the replacement dish and a bit of creativity from hardware store stuff. 
Obviously eventually one would want to replace this with the Full 
Telinga if you need a parabolic. It's definitely much more convenient, 
and stereo.

If building one, it might be possible to come up with routing to bring 
the cable out back through the center hole.

Thanks, Raimund for confirming the idea I had. It sounded like it would 
work when I briefly tried it a while back.
