I have never heard any noises like that coming from the machines Klas, I
have a pioneer DVR7000, one of the earlier models and it's been used many
hours with no problems.
Is this hiss coming from the TV speakers? What connectors are you using and
is the recorder plugged into the same power point as the TV?

Hi all!
I just bought a Panasonic DVD recorder. Works fine, but I am very
disappointed over the audio noise.
When I record something from my sattelite decoder I hear no noise at all.
When replayed from the DVD I hear a low, but quite audible, sometimes
disturbing high-frequent hiss.
Is this something that comes with the DVD or is it the machine? Who knows
out there?
