I wrote to the Repodisc manufacturer for more information, and got a 
prompt reply.  

List price for the Repodisc, including a Sharp MD-MT290H minidisc 
recorder, rechargeable AA battery, metal housing with twin XLR 
inputs, protective case and carry strap is 695 Euros (approximately 
$765 USD) plus shipping from the Netherlands. 

For comparison, the Sharp minidisc by itself costs about $230.  So 
you're paying about $535 for the XLR interface, some improved 
electronics, and a sturdy case.  Not too bad for specialized gear 
produced in small quantity.

Conspicuously absent from the Repodisc literature is any mention of 
48V phantom power for your mic.

Onyx has no US representative yet, so sales inquiries should be sent
