Hello everyone,
The FEL 3.5 Series preamps, like all preamps, will add noise to the
recording, however they add less than that contributed by the mic
preamps of the vast majority of "domestic" MD and DAT recorders. They
provide 20 dB of gain and plug into the MIC input of the recorder.
This means the overall result should be a lower noise recording.
They are also very tiny (built into the XLR mic plug) and do not
require batteries.
Hope this makes things a little clearer.
Nick Roast.
