Ok mate
I'll put in here and have a go! I must say that I hate to ID a bird from
such a short recording, (this one is 2 seconds) but I recon I get the
cake here!!!!
Marty, I played your sound byte over a few times and joined them
together as to get a rhythm going, here is my analysis :-)

Marty <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/naturerecordists/message/10043>
Michener asked
Is
<http://www.naturesound.org/Sound%20Files/Warbler/Marty%20Warbler.mp3>
this a Townsend's Warbler?
I have copied Marty's file and joined together a longer sound byte as to
get a rhythm going. Click on the sonogram
<http://www.naturesound.org/Sound%20Files/Warbler/Marty%20Warbler.mp3>
for the sound
I joined together the sound of a Yellow Warbler in this area (Cougar
Mountain, Issaquah, WA) with Marty's File.
<http://www.naturesound.org/Sound%20Files/Warbler/Martyyellow.mp3>
Marty/Yellow Warbler What do you think?
Now here is a recording made of a Townsend
<http://www.naturesound.org/Sound%20Files/Warbler/Townsend%20Warbler%20T
iger%20Mountain.mp3> Warbler from a nearby hill to where Marty
Recorded.
Here

<http://www.naturesound.org/Sound%20Files/Warbler/Marty&TigerTownsend.mp
> &TigerTownsend.mp
3> is the same recording joined with Marty's Warbler
My guess is the original sound is that of a Townsend Warbler going
strictly from the close proximity but the rhythm and pitch is certainly
close to the yellow warbler.
<http://www.naturesound.org/Sound%20Files/Warbler/Yellow%20Warbler.mp3>
Yellow Warbler on its own.
By-the-way, this is the sound of a Townsend
<http://www.naturesound.org/Sound%20Files/Warbler/Townsend%20warbler.mp3
> Warbler I recorded in State Park, Issaquah in 1999 is totally
different to the Tiger Mountain recording.
Result:
Townsend Warbler in my book!

Hello all:

I have posted a single song from a warbler, which at the time I IDed as
a
Townsends. Let me see if you all agree. Since, in the conversion from
WAV
to MP3 much of my standard internal metadata is lost, I provide the
recording-specific data here:

Recorded in mono from Sennheiser ME-66 with windscreen and bass roll-off
on
cassette tape,
1997 06 08; 08:30 PDT
Washington, Issaquah, Cougar Mountain Regional Park; Coal Creek. at
trail
junction C2 and C3.
WX:  60 degrees, sunny, calm.

The file is located at:

Thanks for any comments . .

my best regards,

Marty Michener
