It's actually a portable light stand. It's hard to find tall mic stands,
Though I do have one that's not quite as tall that was made by shure. I
have two of the light stands. Very nice, when you release the clamps
they have air dampening to lower things gracefully. I had to machine a
little adapter as well for the mics.

Actually, when I took the Telinga photo it was pointed at where I heard
the River frogs in daylight. Same with the SASS photo. Been meaning to
photograph that setup for a while.

I'm spoiled with a GPS that has a map display with a little marker
showing where I am. I'm a expert with map and such like, but hardly
navigate that way anymore.

Every year I'm out making recordings to the background of fireworks. At
least the frogs don't seem to mind. Though I've not tried a M80 in their
pond.
