I don't buy them so I can not help there. A Y cable will not work.
To define a minidisc stereo plug 3.5mm stereo male as(Tip, ring,
sleave).
Tip is connected to pin 2 of one mic.
Ring is connected to pin 2 of the other mic.
Sleave is connected to pins 1 and 3 of both mics.
On long cables it is better to short pins 1 and 3 at the stereo
miniplug and and not the mic end. Both work fine on short cables.
