I just joined the group and am almost brand new to sound recordings. I
recently bought a Marantz PMD 650 and Sennhiser mic. My interest is
mainly recording bird songs but also any sounds in nature which I may
use for background in slide shows. I live in NW Washington on an island
in the San Juans. I work as a steward/naturalist for The Nature
Conservany.
My first question is about software. I've seen Cool Edit mentioned.
What is the difference between the $250 and $70 versions. Do I need an
add-on to get rid of background noise? Any other suggestions for
getting started. If this is already covered in a previous
correspondence, could you please direct me to the number.
