I know the CoolEdit program crashes too at times but when you re-start
it, it remembers where you where and asks if you want to reload it, so
it is fairly safe. What I do is if I have recorded with MD I first
transfer it onto my CDR burner (if you have one) and then I finalize it,
then upload it all to CoolEdit, then you already have the original
recording I raw form for safety. The new CoolEdit will make sure you can
recover everything in the case of a crash.

PS. Thanks for sending out my new Telinga Dat, I wait like a kid with a
new toy :-)

Subject: [Nature Recordists] software crash

Tonight I recorded nearly 6 hours into my computer. It took some 10-15
minutes to save it. When the bar showed 99% saved, the software crashed.
I
lost it all, but it doesn't matter, it was nothing important.
But how to avoid this? It could have been a valuable recording.

I usually use WaveLab, as it is so fast to work with. Perhaps i should
download the recordings and save in CoolEdit instead?? Is that software
stable? Which software is the most stable and reliable, recording and
saving?

Klas.
