Chris,

The old Sony "ECM-MS 5" uses a 5 pin XLR which I would assume is the
same standard for the pin order. The cable that came with it was split
out to a stereo pair. I use a 5 pin custom 30 foot extension cable and
attach my shorter split cable (2 XLRs) to my R-DAT or Preamp.

Dan Dugan may have the pin info as I had once contracted him fabricate
me a replacement set at one point when I was out of the country in a
bind. On the 5-pin end of the splitter cable I can see that pin "1" is
the shield. I think an option is to bridge pin 1 to the Ground as it
like that on my extension cable.

This what I can see on this 5 pin version made from Canary 803/L-4E6S cable=
:

1 shield
2 blue
3 blue
4 white
5 white

I am not certain what is right or left 2&4 or 3&5...

on the regular XLR sides:

1 shield
2 blue
3 white
