Hi Everyone,

I am writing to ask if anyone out there lives in the Chesapeake Bay region=

and/or has done nature recordings here.

I am currently living on Maryland's Eastern Shore and working on a 2-hour
audio documentary about different aspects of life in the region (e.g.
maritime traditions, gospel music, hunting, wildfowl calls and decoys,
jousting, visual artists, poultry business....a very mixed bag) for the
Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation. Anyhow, many of the stories require rich
natural ambient sound: marshlands, coastal, etc.

Problem:

A few of my stories require WINTER sounds, especially of wildfowl (ducks an=
d
geese especially!), and I have begun my work after the prime
hunting/recording season, and will be done before it begins again next fall=
.
I am wondering if any of you out there have recorded these sounds in this
region in winter and might be willing to discuss contributing them to this=

project. I am even willing to consider working with audio from outside the=

region that includes the wildlife of this one- but that is only if I get
really desperate and can manage to overcome the obvious ethical/aesthetic
dilemma.

Also, if any of you have ever lived or recorded in this region and have som=
e
tips to share about excellent places to record, I would really appreciate
it! I am having trouble finding good places that are quiet enough to record=

natural ambience and still accessible by foot (as opposed to boat).

thanks, tatiana

p.s. I'm the the one with the 418s- have only used it so far to record
interviews with the mid capsule only, which works beautifully, and in prett=
y
clangy bangy industrial type environments, so I am unable to report as of
yet if the "noisy" side is going to be a big drag in a quiet setting. Will=

keep you posted. For general, wide, "longshot" ambiences outdoors I have so=

far been using the Pearl MS-8 and I am pleased with it- (also doubles well=

as a music mic). Yup, just call me "Miss Mono-Compatible"
