Also, S/PDIF output would probably be nice too, if that would produce a
better transfer than using line-out and re-digitizing.

Tell me what to buy!

Help!

Both my field DAT recorders are currently in need of repair, so I have
nothing to record to, and the birds are starting to sing. Some great new
hard disc recorders are due to hit the scene this year, but they're not
available yet.

So I need to find an inexpensive stop-gap solution and I'm thinking of
purchasing a minidisc recorder that I will use in tandem with my Sound
Devices MP-2 preamp (which has a tape-out mini jack).

What model do you guys currently recommend?? I'm not talking about the HHb
here, but rather the lower end affordable units, such as those made by Sony,
etc. I need line-in and line-out jacks, of course, and buttons that work
with my big fingers.

Tell me what to buy.
