Maybe Scott I am misreading you, but it is not clear to me whether you 
checked the software-settable input attenuations, as in:

[power on]
press [input] twice
check what is abbreviated as "Mic-Att SET"
the numbers for L and R should obviously be the same.

Or, you could try setting the left to -30 dB and see if they match - of 
course I'm sure you may want full sensitivity.

What happens if you supply the same mic signals, split in two into both MIC 
input connectors - I gather you have the same problem.
