Dear David, I have no engineering test results to share with you. I can only report that using the Shure A96F matching transformer with my Sennheiser mics and Sony MZ-R50 minidisc recorders results in an increased recording level without a corresponding increase in amplifier noise. Like I said in my first message, it's as if you moved closer to the subject of your recording. I suggest that you give the Shure transformer a try and decide for yourself. B&H Photo/Video has a 7 day return policy for audio equipment.
