 Hello again,

Thanks Rich, it was a lot of days spent in a cold spruce tree, that
helped me get that call i targeted on tape. I believe its from a 12
point buck that i seen in the area, and your right he was calling for
the doe's to come over to join him. I first recorded the call on my
MZ-R30 minidisc using the Telinga dish with a Sony ECM-T145 Tie-clip
microphone. It is the homemade version that Walter gave me the plans
to build. It worked great, i wish i could say the same for the
minidisc i bought on ebay. I taped the recorder on a tree on several
occasions, and he came right under that tree while making some great
vocalizations. Every time i went and retrieved the recorder, i found
that it stop working only seconds after i left. I had no time to
order a new recorder this year.(Because they only make this call for
a Month or so, during the pre rut, and the rut). My son transferred
the calls to a cd and i spent a few more cold days in that tree with
a camcorder and the call system. On the second day he came closer than
ever before, responding with vocals, which i got on the camcorder
mic. I think if it was deep in the rut he would have come out and
tore the speakers to pieces. I used the same playback system with the
calls i captured on the camcorder mic, and some does walked right up
to the speakers, and stayed as long as i kept playing them. It is
hunting season down here so i did not want to keep them around to get
shot by one of the four different hunters, i met in that area. All of
whom told me they seen no deer and that the season should be closed,
and i agree with the closing of the season for a few years, because
the last two winters were very hard on the deer herds in are
Province. I was planning a trip, as you mentioned to a area were a
buck had some rubs and scrapes, but something came up and it will
have to be put off until next season. It will have to be a big
bruiser of a deer to come out to chase a 12 pointer away. So i can't
wait until next season to get that on tape. I will try and get a 5 or
6 pointer on tape making that call next year, and that way more bucks
will come out for a look see. As far as i know this is the only
recording of whitetail deer making this type of vocalization, so i
will guard it with my life until i hear otherwise.

                                               John E Parks
