If you are using open style headphones, you may find you need to go to
closed style that seal over the ears pretty well. Most walkman style
mics are open style. I use regular studio mics, though you can do ok
with some of the light mics if you keep the volume in them down and keep
them well out of the line of pickup. I used the stock mic that came with
the MZ-R30 for a fair while with little problem.
Try to stay fairly directly behind the mic. You should not have to add
extensions. You can hand hold this mic right at you with some precautions.
