That's just working storage.

To be honest: no storage medium will hold its data for ever.

So I record on minidisk, store these as originals and transfer to PC
in the 16 bit 44.1 kHz wav format.
Sometimes I record directly into my PC (same format).
All my recordings are stored on
1) the working hard disk in my PC, a dedicated audio drive holding
only data (another drive holds the OS and the sound software)
2) a removable hard disk that is only used for back up's
3) CDR's (abslolutely no CDRW) and I do store the file in the wav
format again, converting it to CD audio is not a back up in my
opinion: it then becomes a user product.

So I back up on 3 different items, of which 2 are different media
types. And I make copys of them once every 5 years because nothing
lasts forever; a CDR is supposed to last about 10 years provided you
take good care storing and handling it.

Call me paranoia but I hate to loose my files!

regards, Evert
