Sony TCD D100

Dear all,

does anybody have experience with the Sony TCD D100? Any comments are
welcome.
Which microfone would you recommend?

I was told that the Sony TCD D100 is slower to handle than an analogue
recorder. It takes a second to start recordings after a brake, and even
some seconds after stand-by modus. Furthermore, it makes noises while
changing the minidiscs. Are these drawbacks only typical for the TCD
D100 or for dat recorders in general which one has to accept?

We need to record birds in aviaries but also in the field. At both
localities birds can be located by sight.

Thanks in advance.
Martin
