I don't know if you have been speaking to Marantz America, but they are
not connected with Marantz Professional ( who make these products ) in the=
US. The US contact for Marantz Professional are Superscope Technologies
based in Chicago. And I can assure you that there was a service fix for
this problem which was then implemeted in production, as I have the
documents in front of me now. In future if anyone requires any information=
in the US about Marantz Professional products, you should contact Paul
Mathis at Superscope Technologies, contact details on their website
www.superscope-marantzpro.com.
Best Wishes

There was never an update from Marantz as far as I know for this
problem (I asked Marantz in the US fairly recently), and all the
PMD222's that we see suffer from it.
We service a vast number of Marantz's and offer a modification for
$75 to reduce the XLR input noise by about 10dB (to the same level as
the mini jack).
