Hi John - Normally they are found only as used equipment.

I believe the R50 and newer are all very comparable as far as sound quality
is concerned. The R30 has an older version of ATRAC but sounds very good.
The PDM 650 and R50 both have ATRAC version 4. The R30 and R50 are both
very sturdy machines the 50 and newer have nicer remotes.
 
I have no experience with the 700 and 900 except they are smaller and
lighter which may equates to a loss in durability.

Sorry but I don't have any info on these.

None of the Walkmans have digital out. Don't believe Sharp does either.
