Stock routes, or 'Where shall we ride near Canberra?'

I was abused by a man yesterday telling me to get out - he was in a red Mazda and clearly not a landowner. I was on the road, well before the Caloola right angle turn. He told me I was on private land and that I had no right to be there. From what I can work out, according to ACTmapi, it is a public road with a right of way through the last section after the 3rd cattle grid. I told him this and he just kept abusing me and telling me that we were turning it. I asked a man who was fixing his fence nearby if it was private property and he said no, the road is public access. 

I have come across this local at Jerra Wetlands.

And isn’t it a shame that ‘shall’ is disappearing from the English language? Google’s ngram viewer shows that its use has fallen 74% between when I was born and 2019. Sigh!
