Amazing.
I had one at one of my central coast NSW haunts at MacPersons swamp near Gosford a week or so ago. I was very startled though after adding it to eBird, I saw that it had also been reported there once in November.
Some el Nina and/or climate change things going on maybe? I wonder what their historical range was in the 19th century? I have just been looking for my very battered 1960s ed of Cayley's 'What bird is that' for a clue. Can't seem to find it.
But most useful and interesting would be HANZAB on the matter of historical range. eBird has a smattering of records for as far back as the 1960s at Pitt Town Lagoon near Richmond and one near Shellharbour around the same time. Not complete I know, but interesting.
