Correction accepted Steve. My source for Bruny was dated with regard to public land, but I understand 'tree removal' continues (or can continue) on private land (=c. 50% of the island). I did not wish to imply Maria was logged - adjacent mainland
is logged. There is reported increased success (2021-2 season) in breeding where Sugar Gliders are controlled. But it cannot be denied that Swift parrots' preferred old growth nesting trees continue to be removed and it is an ongoing major threat. And the
'sustainability' in Sustainable Timber Tasmania often is a euphemism.
