Ok, since I said that all the SPs in Hughes seem to have left after the frost last Monday I have seen a few. However there have been only small numbers, no large flocks, mostly ones and twos up to maximum flock size of 20.
The strange thing is that all the birds I have seen since last Monday have been males. Do the females and immatures leave earlier and the males later? They seem to arrive together. But if they do leave separately what about pair bonding? Do they find their
mates again in northern NSW, or do they have a different mate each season?
