I missed the letter in the Canberra times and am delayed responding to this. I assume the removal is associated with the redevelopment of the AWM? I wonder if it was covered in approvals as part of the development for AWM or if (as suggested
by your email) the approval is still needed. I would be interested in helping voice a protest about this.

In Tuesday’s Canberra Times a letter from Stewart Mitchel warned that the AWM is seeking approval from the NCA to remove all the eucalypts from the front of the War Memorial and many from the east and north of the site (60 + trees all up).
If that is correct COG should be very concerned. Those trees are important roosts and nest sites for many birds. I think COG should be protesting strongly to the AWM and the NCA about this.
