Lake Road lake by mid-late February 2017: eventually believed to be one chick + parents. Geoffey had them in a scope at great distance, and David got a movie (ditto). At that time discussion was of a first record for Area of Interest. The lake on Lake is
useless now after 'landscaping', but maybe would be restored by an El Nino year.

After being absent from 26 Dec - 1 Jan (32 ebird lists during this time so not for lack of observer effort), the painted snipe is back opposite cygnus with a mate this morning.
Have they bred locally before?
