I have a memory of Richard Schodde reporting the hybrids breeding many years ago.

Given the bluish cheeks it does look like a hybrid Eastern/Crimson Rosella. The bone coloured beak indicates an adult bird. Parrots often look at holes during the "non breeding" season and will often try to "guard" a favoured hollow. As has been noted on the chat line in the past there are quite a few records locally of hybrids.

A few days ago at Jerrabomberra Wetlands this bird was seen inspecting nesting hollows in the company of a Crimson Rosella over an extended period.  Initially I thought it was an Eastern Rosella, but it doesn’t look “correct”.  Could it be a hybrid Eastern Rosella/Crimson Rosella.  It is probably not a juvenile Crimson Rosella otherwise why would it be inspecting and entering potential nesting hollows?
