In Hall Museum there’s an exceptional collection from Lyall Gillespie’s days of researching his family’s history in that area. And his collection of Indigenous artefacts “Stones that Speak” reveals the genius of those that farmed and moved through the Canberra region prior to settlement.

Open on Thursdays and Sundays…for those who are interested in our history, that of Ginninderra Creek, the region’s numerous schools and those who wish to share other generations’ stories “Down Memory Lane”.
The Museum has free entry, is run by volunteers and is planning a display of Cricket memorabilia from April.

Hall’s streets are wildlife havens in these dry times and there’s various eateries and coffee options for humans.

This afternoon there was a Latham’s Snipe at Lyall Gillespie Corridor in Forde. No bands. It was very flighty.

I looked up Lyall Gillespie on the www and found it was the same one I came across in my younger days in the Public Service. The least said the better as neither of us was a fan of the other. He certainly has more claim to fame.
