I take these to be serious questions. Let us assume the bird has escaped from captivity. The best way to arrive at an answer to each of the questions
is for the record to be submitted to each repository. That in turn raises the question: who can submit the record in each case? Perhaps not Philip, on the basis of a second-hand chatline report. Paul? Well, does he absolutely trust the photographer friend?
Is the friend interested in taking the matter further?
To explore just one of the suggested reporting avenues, I tried to bring up ‘Chukar Partridge’ in eBird. No such species is recognised. You will
have more luck with ‘Chukar’. That species is certainly recorded beyond its natural range - in New Zealand and Hawaii for example. Does it need to have been officially listed in those places? Once again, best to just give it a go. Personally. I would
be inclined to wait for the appearance of a second Chukar, preferably not at the Pinnacle.
