Last weekend, a resident pair of Eastern Spinebills appeared with two brand new
young. Their second brood for the summer. Still not exactly sure where the nest
site is, though I suspect it's in a particular yard across the street. The four
birds are currently enjoying the profusely flowering correas, as well as the
bird bath. The young ones come within a few feet as I sit on the front steps.
Also of note this week, a young Leaden Flycatcher moving out of the Pinnacle,
pausing briefly in the yard.
And quite a few juvenile Grey Fantails feeding and bathing here for much of the
day. Still calling in almost total darkness in the evening, so I'm out tonight
to look for roosting birds.
