Hi All,

At the risk of upsetting Wayne and others (sorry Wayne .. I promise never to post a Koel sighting again!) ... please feel free to delete ....

Today was only the second time that I've managed to get some reasonable pics of a female K--- .

Thought I'd share in case there are others out there that haven't seen the females in the open very often.

By the way ... Geoffrey, there are some Wood Duckling photos there for you too ..... definitely arrived long before Melbourne Cup Day. Martin ... you'll find a Galah or 2 and, if you go back  ... a turkey  ... haha ...

Pics on Flickr ...

Cheers
Julie

The Turner Koel is traditionally a late Koel so I appreciate the other Koel sighting reports.

There are some other sighting reports that are of no particular interest to me but, since this is a general COG birdy chat line, that is only to be expected.

Con

Just a question of getting the balance right, Wayne.  I thought Lach’s message about a near view of a mating was very reportable.

We all have our preferences.  Personally, I would like to hear more about emergent ducklings of the A Wood Duck, Australia’s favourite maned duck.  I have sometimes wondered if it is a coincidence that the first of these appear around Melbourne Cup Day.

Am I just being a grumpy old person or do other chatliners share my view that Koels are now a sufficiently well established feature of Canberra’s bird scene that we don’t really need to know about each and every one that turns up?
