While visiting Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Valley in the week commencing 23 September, Channel-billed Cuckoos were very active. I eventually tracked them down and found four of them feeding in a glorious mulberry tree on some of the best mulberries I have ever seen. Unfortunately the only video I got showed a single bird in a tree nearby.

A neighbour, who has lived in Brisbane and is familiar with the call of a CBC, reports hearing one at sunrise this morning.  They have been recorded on eBird in Melbourne since 11 October 2018 and at Wallaga Lake since 30 September 2018.

I have no idea what it would be finding to feed on in this area at this time of year.
