I hadn’t been there for  a couple of months: shrinking, dotted with dotterels, many snappers afoot.  In the below, the shape behind the familiar herons in the raptor tree is a hot-air balloon.  At least one bank still holding up its head.  A busy water rat in the creek, and a stalk of migrating woodswallows, part of a flock of 25.   These are birds that enjoy one another’s company.
