For my contribution to the eBird Big Day I toured The Plain yesterday afternoon, recordng 31 species. Looking at the world wide results I find that the flock of 280 Common Starlings I
observed browsing among cattle near Mills Cross and the record (two separate flocks) of 264 Little Ravens feeding in recently cultivated land North of Briars-Sharrow Rd are both World High Counts.
There is of course still time left in the day for a New World flock of starlings to beat the count for that species, but being Spring in the North the birds are less likely to flock up.
