Dear David,
Many thanks for your guidance on the Australasian Shoveler. I am happy to report a successful encounter with the beast at Jerrambombera this evening (17:30). I found what I took to be no fewer than three pairs. Impressive the quantity
of other waterfowl as well!
I am now soaking wet and retreating to my cousin's home at Mawson for the night.
I would be very interested to try for the Freckled Duck tomorrow morning if anyone in your group might oblige me?!
Thanks again David, for being so kind to give me a steer.
Sincerely,
David Karr

is a birder visiting Canberra from the USA, arriving this afternoon and departing tomorrow some time.
He would like to see Freckled Ducks and Aust Shovelers. I have recommended Jerra Wetlands and sewage works.
If anyone is able to meet him on Friday morning and assist him, pls email him. He has not provided a phone number.
Regards - David

Dear David,
I thank you for your kind and prompt reply. The Canberra birding fraternity is clearly on the ball!
And thank you for the good news on the ducks; both the Shoveler and the Freckled would be potential lifers; and the Plumed Whistling Duck, I have only seen in New Guinea.
We are currently refueling neat Goulburn and expect to arrive at Canberra sometime later this afternoon.
I note that you have mentioned Mulligans Flat being north of Canberra. We might stop in and try before entering the capital.
Might you be free tomorrow morning for a spot of birding at Jerbomberra/Fyshwick?
We have to travel to Melbourne tomorrow, but I'd like to give the sites a try before we depart Canberra.
Not sure what the weather holds tomorrow...?
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond. I'd b happy for you to share my message with the community.
Best wishes,
David Karr
PS: just saw the report of Little Raven at a golf course. That would also be a new bird for me!

It is also in residence at present at the Bungendore Sewage Treatment Works. This is about 45 minutes drive east of Canberra. Also in that area are Plumed Whistlng-Ducks at present. I live in the Bungendore area so could possibly show you these birds if you were interested.
