Certainly the male is closest to blob and could be still incubating. Will have to see if additional blobs appear.

Circumstances not favourable for photography but it seems to me looking at a couple of not very serious snaps for the record that the pair MIGHT have a chick.  By no means conclusive.  I think Steve has video of an aggressive lunge by the male scattering the duck when they approached the possible chick location.  The cryptic patch does look a bit like the chick picture in HANZAB.
