Think you are right! - looks like a chick -  I have llokd through mine now and I also have a picture showing mum dad and little one!! - having trouble attaching it to email and getting it onto chatline.

Circumstances not favourable for photography but it seems to me looking at a couple of not very serious snaps for the record that the pair MIGHT have a chick.  By no means conclusive.  I think Steve has video of an aggressive lunge by the male scattering the duck when they approached the possible chick location.  The cryptic patch does look a bit like the chick picture in HANZAB.
